I decided that September 2023 was the time to give Windows 11 a chance on my work computer. After a couple of days though, I discovered that some of the new \u201cimprovements\u201d were affecting my productivity. I decided to look at options to make the OS work the way I preferred.<\/p>\n<p>The recommendations I outline in this article are mentioned in many other places on the web. Rename the value: \u201cDisableSearchBoxSuggestions\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5: Double-click to change the value to \u201c1\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35457\" src=\"https:\/\/www.filecloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Windows-11-Registry-Editor-Modify-Key-Value.png\" alt=\"View of Windows 11 Registry Editor - Edit Key Value\" width=\"1170\" height=\"735\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.filecloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Windows-11-Registry-Editor-Modify-Key-Value.png 1170w, https:\/\/www.filecloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Windows-11-Registry-Editor-Modify-Key-Value-1024x643.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.filecloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Windows-11-Registry-Editor-Modify-Key-Value-768x482.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\"><\/p>\n<p>Now, you can restart Windows, which will remove Bing Search from the start menu.<\/p>\n<h1><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Restore_the_Windows_10_Context_Menu\"><\/span>2. Restore the Windows 10 Context Menu<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Windows 11 brings a new, reduced context menu when you write in a file or folder in File Explorer. However, to see the full array of options, you must click on \u201cShow more options.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After trying to adjust to this method for a few days\u2026I decided it was a waste of my time. I investigated if it was possible to bring back the old context menu (and found out it was!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Go back to the registry with the following path:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre>Computer\\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Classes\\CLSID<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Create a new key in this path with the following name:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre>{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Step 3: In the created key, create a new key inside and rename it to \u201cInprocServer32\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4: Once created, double-click on the Default file inside <em>InprocServer32<\/em> and click OK without entering any value. (Notice that the Data field is empty.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35458\" src=\"https:\/\/www.filecloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Restore-Windows-10-Context-Menu.png\" alt=\"View of Windows 11 Registry Editor - Restore Windows 10 Context Menu\" width=\"1168\" height=\"735\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.filecloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Restore-Windows-10-Context-Menu.png 1168w, https:\/\/www.filecloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Restore-Windows-10-Context-Menu-1024x644.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.filecloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Restore-Windows-10-Context-Menu-768x483.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1168px) 100vw, 1168px\"><\/p>\n<p>Close the registry, close any File Browser window (if you have any opened), and open the File Explorer again. When you right-click on any item, you will see the classic context menu without the need to click on \u201cshow more.\u201d<\/p>\n<h1><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Force_Windows_11_Taskbar_to_Display_Left_and_Hide_Unnecessary_Elements\"><\/span>3. Force Windows 11 Taskbar to Display Left (and Hide Unnecessary Elements)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>I tried to find the benefits of having the Windows 11 taskbar display in the center of the screen and moving to the left once you begin opening apps, but I prefer the classic taskbar. Personalize Start Menu Items<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Another change I made was to hide all recent items and simplify the Start menu as much as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Right-click on the \u201cDesktop\u201d and click on personalization; then go to \u201cStart\u201d and choose the proper layout for you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s it!<\/p>\n<h1><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Adjust_Windows_Device_Monitoring_Settings\"><\/span>5.
