FileCloud NIST Compliance Guide

NIST 800-171 is a security standard that federal contractors must follow, as required by the US government to ensure the security of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in non-federal organizations.

CUI is information that, though unclassified, is nevertheless sensitive, and steps are required to protect its confidentiality, integrity, and availability. For this reason, it is safeguarded with certain standards and controls dictated by federal laws, regulations, and policies.

The US DoD (Department of Defense) also requires DoD contractors that process, store, and transmit CUI to meet Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) standards. Minimum DFARS standards are met if the organization is compliant with NIST 800-171.

FileCloud Server enables contractors to manage and protect CUI, as required by the US government. FileCloud’s hyper-secure file sharing and sync system includes 256-bit AES encryption for data at rest, SSL/TLS protocols for data in transit, 2FA, granular file-sharing permissions, and FIPS 140-2 encryption model. These layers of security ensure CUI data is secure and compliant.
