Issues with Uploading a File to Drive

Restrictions on filenames and file extensions

Please note the following restrictions when uploading files to FileCloud:

  • Files with the same name:
    • If you upload a file with the same name and the same case as another file in the same folder, it overwrites the file.
    • If you upload a file with the same name but a different case than another file in the same folder, you cannot upload the file and the File Operations window displays a file name conflict message.
    • If you upload files with the same name but different file extensions, like myfile.doc and myfile.docx, they are treated as different files.
  • FileCloud cannot upload files with leading spaces in the filename.
  • By default, files with the extensions php, php5, phar, and phtml cannot be uploaded into FileCloud.

For Admins

Why can't I upload files larger than the storage quota to a Network Folder or Team Folder?

  • To create a drive in Windows, FileCloud must specify a size.
  • When FileCloud mounts a virtual drive, your storage quota is used as the size of the drive.
  • This mechanism restricts uploading files larger than the total size of the drive.

You must have Administrator privileges to reset your storage quota.

If you do not, please contact your administrator to change it for you.

If you need to change the storage quota for a particular user, you can edit their current policy settings or create a new policy.

Administrators can read more about Setting the Storage Quota for Users

To change the upload limit and size of the drive by using a custom size for Drive:

This option enables you to leave a non-zero setting for User Storage Quota, but change the storage size of Drive.

  1. Open the Drive configuration file at %PROGRAMFILES%/FileCloudDrive/service/config.xml
  2. Add the following setting:

    <enablecutomsizewhenserverquota>1</enablecutomsizewhenserverquota>
  3. To set a 100 GB limit on the size of files that can be uploaded to Drive, save and close the file.
    or
To set a custom limit on the size of files that can be uploaded to Drive, add the setting <drivedefaultstorageingb> to the Drive configuration file and set it to the custom size of files that can be uploaded to Drive, and then save and close the file. See the steps below under To change the default storage size in Drive for instructions on adding the <drivedefaultstorageingb> setting.

To change the default storage size in Drive:

If User Storage Quota is set to 0, the following setting may be used without <enablecutomsizewhenserverquota> to change the storage size of FileCloud Drive.

If User Storage Quota is set to 1, the following setting must be used with <enablecutomsizewhenserverquota> to change the storage size of FileCloud Drive.

  1. To edit the config.xml file, on the computer running Drive, navigate to the following directory:

    C:\program files\FileCloud Drive\service
  2. Open the following file for editing

    config.xml
  3. Set the following option to the new storage quota size:

    <drivedefaultstorageingb>20</drivedefaultstorageingb>
  4. Save and close the file.

  5. Using the system tray menu, exit Drive.

  6. Navigate to the following directory:

    %APPDATA%/FileCloud Drive/data/
  7. Delete the following file:

     fcd2.sq
  8. Using the system tray menu, start FileCloud Drive.

  9. Type in your credentials and login.

FileCloud Drive is now set to the value specified in <drivedefaultstorageingb>.
