CloudTrust is an IT consulting company and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), whose mission is to help create a business landscape in which compliance and cybersecurity become business enablers. In 2020, many companies were struggling with data security challenges related to the sudden need to embrace cloud technologies. In response, Geoff Groves and Ed Morrow co-founded CloudTrust as a cloud and data center computing company with a compliance-driven focus.
Initially, CloudTrust focused heavily on AWS cloud services. It eventually evolved into a company focusing on helping clients with on-premises IT environments to prepare for compliance audits. Since then, the company has expanded its core staff and acquired a team based in India. CloudTrust also has two auditing partners who manage an independent company and are members of the CloudTrust board.
For CloudTrust, ensuring data integrity is the name of the game. Similar to FileCloud, the CloudTrust team regards data integrity and organizational integrity as inseparable.
FileCloud and CloudTrust Partnership
CloudTrust clients include a company that provides medical processing services for healthcare and federal customers, with complex regulatory demands. Other clients include a healthcare IT company, a major university, and a large nonprofit requiring SOC2 and HIPAA-compliant environments.
FileCloud's Robust Compliance Center
The medical processing company CloudTrust helps with compliance handles highly sensitive information on behalf of a federal customer. A data leak is simply not an option, as it could provoke a crisis for the business, as well as its federal customer. There are stringent compliance obligations that they need to honor, including GDPR, HIPAA, and CMMC. Recently, the medical files being processed required distribution to over 60 global locations, with iron-clad security built into the solution. CloudTrust and its client needed to achieve this on a limited budget.
CloudTrust explored building many AWS workspaces for the medical files but found this option too expensive and beyond the budget of the processing company. In the course of researching options, they came across a video about FileCloud from respected IT influencer, NetworkChuck. As a result of further research, they decided to deploy FileCloud on AWS Workspace as an initial step toward transitioning the medical processing data away from AWS Workspace to a more cost-effective environment. They are currently using FileCloud on this platform.
Engineers at CloudTrust had already used Dropbox and other solutions. They knew that none of these solutions fit their criteria as an MSSP. In the course of due diligence, CloudTrust also noted the deep experience and knowledge within FileCloud of what it takes to provide an effective compliance environment for federal customers. This corporate experience was an asset, because CloudTrust customers frequently require SOC environments. These customers often ask CloudTrust to assess their systems, and the resulting remediation steps are invariably enhanced by a FileCloud installation.
The medical processing company was happy to invest in FileCloud, due to its competitive, transparent pricing and simple licensing model. They were particularly taken by the contrast with OneDrive in this regard. In addition, the costs associated with the CMMC version of OneDrive were prohibitive and the infrastructure adjustments problematic. FileCloud Server, deployed on-premises, fit easily into their infrastructure and provided additional functionalities to support compliance with CMMC.
This medical processing company is now so happy with FileCloud that they're planning to increase their number of licenses by up to 3,000. FileCloud will continue to be a vital part of their efforts toward enhancing and maintaining CMMC compliance.
Our overall experience with FileCloud from day one was outstanding. Our relationship continues to grow, and we could not be more satisfied with what they have built and how they support us...just awesome. – Geoff Groves, CEO, CloudTrust.
The team at this MSSP is so satisfied with what FileCloud has achieved for its medical processing customer that its members are now using FileCloud for their own internal operations. CloudTrust developers in India use FileCloud for collaboration on Word, PDF, and Excel files, as well as for sending files securely among members via share links. Having used many solutions over the years, including Dropbox and Google Docs, these industry veterans find FileCloud a secure and superior solution. Additionally, the FileCloud support team responds in a matter of hours to any queries. The personable nature of the support is a standout aspect of FileCloud, according to Geoff Groves, CloudTrust CEO.
Customer Support Excellence
Implementation of FileCloud, both internally and for CloudTrust customers, has been incredibly smooth. This contrasts with previous experiences in which Windows servers proved complicated in this respect, taking weeks to fine tune. On the other hand, it took CloudTrust engineers half a day to set up FileCloud on GovCloud. Engineers also noted that, when using FileCloud Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for implementation, FileCloud Server already provided many of the resources they needed. This included the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS) required by federal customers.
Further FileCloud features that stand out according to CloudTrust engineers include:
FileCloud Workflow Automation
