When FTPs or File Transfer Protocols came about in the 1970’s, they were created to send and receive “files on a computer network between a specific client and server. ” This was an innovative tool 50 years ago. For modern business practices though, using a comprehensive CCP (Content Collaboration Platform) rather than an FTP provides greater functionality and security.
That’s not to say that FTPs don’t have their uses. ExaVault calls itself a modern cloud FTP that helps you share files no matter what system they use.
Of course, if you’re simply looking to share files, there are a plethora of free options available. However, most enterprises need to do more than simply share a file. They need a comprehensive CCP, or a one-stop-shop that provides a hyper-secure environment, advanced data controls, and access permissions, and top-notch compliance tools and integrations; a solution like FileCloud. Specifically, there are a couple of features that ExaVault just doesn’t provide that we think are necessary for any enterprise-grade file sharing solution.
Multiple Hosting Options
ExaVault is hosted on its own servers, on the cloud. This is perfect if you’re looking for a cloud-only solution. However, most companies and enterprises (not to mention government organizations and agencies) need more than just a cloud option. Indeed, because of compliance and security concerns many admins require that their file sharing solutions have multiple hosting options, including a hybrid, and a self-hosted option.
FileCloud has a great cloud solution, but it also provides a hybrid and an on-premises Server solution.
While the Server solution has all the ease of our online solution, it also provides admins with the option to keep their data on their own servers, beyond firewalls that they have complete control over.
Since ExaVault only works on the cloud, it won’t work for you if you have different hosting needs.
More than GDPR Compliance
Compliance with GDPR or The General Data Protection Rule is a necessity for most companies as it relates to anyone (person or business) who collects or stores data on EU residents.
ExaVault does have GDPR compliance available, but there are many other regulations addressing data privacy and security all around the world, including HIPAA and ITAR. Unfortunately, ExaVault does not support compliance for these regulations.
FileCloud isn’t just compliant with many of the largest compliance regulations, it also has a comprehensive Compliance Center with separate tabs for regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and ITAR.
The Compliance Center helps connect these complicated regulations with best practices and recommendations, along with the security tools and options FileCloud provides to ensure your company’s compliance.
Users and admins can use the Compliance Center to quickly spot issues with compliance, and get reports on violations, along with event logs for easy archival or governance audits.
Seamless Integration
When we said that FileCloud is a one-stop shop for collaboration and file sharing, we meant it. For us, that means providing users with access to their favorite tools and apps, all within FileCloud’s hyper-secure environment. This helps ensure limited context-switching and ensures that work remains seamless.

Just a few of FileCloud’s Integrations include:
• Gmail, Outlook
• Office 365, Google Docs
• AWS S3
• MS Teams
• Salesforce
• McAfee
Unfortunately, ExaVault does not provide the integrations that are necessary for anyone looking for a seamless file sharing solution.
