FileCloud’s admin and user portals are optimized to create a familiar, cloud-like ease when it comes to file sharing. Share public or private links, add password-protection, and even set expiration dates. Shares can also be sent with granular access permissions.
FileCloud is a hyper-secure platform that can be deployed on-premises, as a private cloud, or even as a hybrid platform. Built-in security includes encryption for data at rest and in transit, AD and LDAP integration, and antivirus scanning. Admins can also enable two-factor authentication and Single Sign-on (SSO).
Powerful metadata and classification functionalities in FileCloud support admins in creating a compliant environment with strong governance and data control. Automate metadata tagging, retention policies, content classification, and even data leak prevention (DLP).
FileCloud has received the Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice Distinction for the fifth consecutive time!

FileCloud is a robust competitor in the magic quadrant EFSS class because it answers the deeper needs of an enterprise that begin with file sharing – FileCloud goes beyond to understand how enterprises need to manage data in our modern world of cloud transformation, global regulations, and increasing cybercrime.
Starting with file sharing, FileCloud offers an intuitive platform for users and admins alike to better collaborate on and secure information. With secure remote access and sync clients for the desktop, browser, and mobile devices, FileCloud users can collaborate and share files anywhere and at any time. This functionality is critical for enterprises working with remote workforces or connecting remote work sites.
This platform also extends and connects varied storage solutions, whether on-prem or in the cloud, which provides enterprises the flexibility needed to scale infrastructure with growth. For admins, this means they can employ FileCloud as a single pane of glass to manage storage and backups across deployed hardware and software.
Increased accessibility and collaboration tools don’t have to come at the cost of enterprise IT security. FileCloud supports the “7 Pillars of Zero Trust” outlined by the US Department of Defense. This means that FileCloud security is based on protecting data at the source, rather than defending a network perimeter.
FileCloud comes with built-in security measures and is eminently flexible thanks to its API support. It also offers tools that can be enabled by admins to create a robust, custom security solution that supports enterprise data control, employee access, and external collaboration.
Zero Trust Features include:
Discover how FileCloud implements Zero Trust (organized by pillar) in our brochure.
Global and industry regulations around data privacy and security are increasing around the world to enforce best practices and data protection measures on behalf of citizens and consumers. Data governance and compliance can feel like a moving target, but FileCloud provides the necessary tools for enterprises to regain control over their data and meet requirements for the current IT landscape and the future.
With Zero Trust principles built in; automation for content classification, retention, and protection; and hyper-secure authentication and access controls, FileCloud offers critical tools for admins while supporting access and collaboration for end users.
Furthermore, FileCloud’s compliance resource library offers guidance to CISOs, CTOs, and other IT professionals working in enterprise environments on various regulations like FINRA, CMMC, FIPS, and CJIS, with direct information on how FileCloud can help.
For enterprises who need to comply with ITAR, HIPAA, and GDPR, FileCloud’s Compliance Center offers specialized configurations that connect requirements directly with FileCloud tools and features, all organized in a streamlined dashboard.

FileCloud can be deployed on-premises (FileCloud Enterprise Server), as a SaaS solution (FileCloud Enterprise Online) or as a hybrid platform to connect cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
FileCloud can provide access to network shares and even integrate existing NTFS permissions. Support for Active Directory and LDAP helps streamline user access without the need to create another set of credentials.
Ensure only authenticated users gain access to your FileCloud environment with two-factor authentication (2FA), Single Sign-On (SSO), global/user/group policies for file and folder access, and granular share permissions. With SAML SSO, FileCloud can even be used with ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services).
The heuristic file content scanning engine in FileCloud helps detect and block ransomware and malware upon upload to the environment. Admins can also integrate preferred antivirus and malware applications.
FileCloud supports digital workspaces with Team Folders – access and activity permissions can be adjusted by policy or folder to ensure only authorized users have access to folders or see certain information.
Users can create and manage their own workflows to automate administrative tasks, including file approval, budget review, onboarding, cross-functional team collaboration, and file retention or archival, among others.
Default and custom metadata sets make searching content by metadata easy, including for tags like PII (personally identifiable information) or PHI (protected health information).
Content (OCR) search can be enabled to search not just files and metadata but content within files as well. This functionality supports FileCloud’s automated content classification, which can identify and tag files according to classification rules upon upload.
FileCloud supports several types of retention policies (a major differentiator from competitors). Admin Hold, Legal Hold, Retention, Archive, and Trash offer different levels of retention to suit different enterprise and regulatory needs.
Admins can set up DLP rules to secure content from being shared with unauthorized users. “Deny” sharing based on IP address, metadata, device access, file/folder location, action attempted, and other file attributes. DLP can also be automated with Smart Content Classification.
With Zero Trust File SharingSM, users can share data in a ZIP file with 256-bit AES encryption and password-protection. To access the data, the recipient must have the Zero Trust password.
The password is never stored in FileCloud, and the ZIP file contents cannot be read by FileCloud, so data is protected against breach or insider threats. Users can set access permissions to read-only (preview, download) or read-write (preview, download, add, delete).
FileCloud also supports Digital Rights Management (DRM), which shares data in a secure document container. Limit the view screen of the shared document, restrict downloads and screen captures, and even revoke the share after download (the recipient will no longer be able to open the file).
With these two advanced file sharing functionalities, FileCloud enables users to share sensitive or confidential information for collaboration or audit purposes while maintaining heightened data control and security.
File Sharing
FileCloud provides an intuitive file sharing experience for end users and admins. With “My Files,” users have their own space to store and share files as needed. These shares can be adjusted directly by the user to secure data in transit:
Team Folders
Users can access a digital collaboration space for files and folders via Team Folders. Granular folder permissions and user policies ensure that users can only see and access information they need within Team Folders. Admins can also limit file and folder activity to certain permissions (read, write, upload, download, share) to maintain data control.
Free External Accounts
File sharing doesn’t stop with internal users – FileCloud also supports an unlimited number of external accounts, at no added cost. These accounts extend FileCloud’s hyper-secure environment so contractors, vendors, stakeholders, and other external collaborators can access important files. No VPN or FTP required.
