Navigating the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) with FileCloud

In September 2023, the PDPL was enacted in Saudi Arabia as part of its Vision 2030 initiative that includes a framework for digital transformation. All public and private organizations handling the personal data of residents of the Kingdom must comply with the legislation by late 2024.

The PDPL has a broad territorial scope, with strict data sovereignty rules as a major focus. Entities based outside of Saudi Arabia that handle personal data of Saudi residents must adhere to the legislation. Penalties for failure to comply are stiff, with hefty fines and prison sentences for breaches. The Saudi Data & AI Authority has broad powers of enforcement, including seizure of tools used to commit a violation of the PDPL and the doubling of fines for repeated breaches.

FileCloud’s Compliance Center offers a robust PDPL template, providing all the configurations companies need to automate their data in line with the requirements of the new Saudi data protection law. Download our white paper to find out more about the PDPL, and how FileCloud can help simplify adherence to this new legislation, allowing your organization to continue to do business in Saudi Arabia.
