FileCloud: A Hyper-Secure Solution to an Evolving Digital Landscape

Security, privacy, and data ownership are fundamental to FileCloud’s security architecture. FileCloud is committed to providing all of these, while remaining user centered and providing ease of access. It starts with 256-bit AES encryption and SSL/TLS protocols to secure data at rest and in transit. Active Directory and NTFS integration, two-factor authentication, and SSO (Single Sign-on) bring FileCloud into the preexisting organizational infrastructure. Granular user, file, and folder access permissions ensure users can collaborate on, share, and download files and folders as needed. Admins can set global policies or adjust permissions by user/group or file/folder.

Admins can rest assured that certain security features are automatically built into the FileCloud platform, while others can be updated as needed. These features include client application security policies, automatic anti-virus scanning of files upon upload, unlimited file versioning and file locking, custom metadata and content classification, endpoint device protection, comprehensive audit trails, and federated search capabilities. Admin-controlled remote device management protects data across servers and employee or client devices, with the option to block users or wipe data from a connected device.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

2FA adds an extra layer of protection to FileCloud by combining user-specific information (login credentials) and a user-specific possession (one-time passcode on a user’s device) to access FileCloud. Once enabled, users will be prompted to provide a passcode or verify their identity in an authenticator app, in addition to their login credentials.

Single Sign-on (SSO)

Users can log in to FileCloud using a company-wide, Single Sign-On user ID and password. FileCloud supports SAML 2.0-based web browser, as well as Microsoft NTLM and ADFS login support. Admins can also opt for code-based authentication. For organizations using network folders, permissions can be easily carried over through FileCloud’s NTFS integration.

Security Policies

With FileCloud, you can easily configure client application security policies at a global or user level to prevent data leaks. These policies ensure people have appropriate levels of access to company information. Policies can include password protections on shared files. When using a FileCloud mobile app, they can include login password strength requirements; disabling mobile access altogether; restrictions on opening, editing, printing, sharing, or downloading files; and enforced multi-factor authentication.

Antivirus Scanning and Ransomware Protection

FileCloud protects your data by automatically scanning uploaded files for viruses. It can also be integrated with any enterprise anti-virus software that supports ICAP. FileCloud’s antivirus security feature works on both Linux and Windows servers and need not be deployed on the same server. Furthermore, FileCloud’s heuristic file content scanning engine detects and blocks ransomware and malware.

Comprehensive Audit Trail and Logging

FileCloud tracks every system operation through comprehensive, exportable audit logs. Logs capture who (username) did what (access, modify and delete) to what data (files, folders), when (timestamp), where (IP address), and how (web, mobile, sync client, and drive). Admins can search transactions and export audit logs as CSV files for detailed analysis.

Endpoint Device Protection

Protect organizational data and prevent data leaks on all connected client devices (PC, Mac, smartphone, or tablet). Admins can view all devices accessing data using FileCloud and monitor activities in real time. If there is suspicious activity, admins can selectively block devices, permanently remove users, and remotely wipe FileCloud data from devices.
