FileCloud for US Federal Contractors & Government Agencies
Federal agencies, defense contractors, and organizations working with the U.S. government must protect sensitive data while enabling secure collaboration across departments, partners, and external stakeholders. FileCloud provides a comprehensive platform for secure file sharing, content governance, and Zero Trust data protection designed to support these requirements.
FileCloud offers two deployment options for federal environments:
- FileCloud FedRAMP, a FedRAMP High authorized cloud platform
- FileCloud Server, a self-hosted solution that organizations can deploy in their own controlled infrastructure.
Agencies and contractors can choose the deployment model that best aligns with their security and compliance requirements. Both options incorporate enterprise capabilities to enable secure file sharing, collaboration with internal teams and external partners, governance policy enforcement, and protection for sensitive data.
FileCloud FedRAMP (FedRAMP High Authorized Cloud)
Hosted within a FedRAMP High authorized environment, FileCloud FedRAMP supports federal agencies, prime contractors, and subcontractors handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and other high-impact federal data.
By using FileCloud FedRAMP, agencies gain the benefits of a secure, government-authorized cloud platform while maintaining the advanced collaboration, governance, and security capabilities required for mission-critical federal workloads.
FileCloud Server (Self-Hosted Deployment)
FileCloud Server provides organizations with a self-hosted file sharing and collaboration platform that can be deployed on-premises, in a private cloud, or within a government-controlled environment. This deployment model allows agencies and contractors to maintain full control over infrastructure, storage, and security policies while benefiting from FileCloud’s advanced collaboration and governance capabilities.
FileCloud Server is widely used by federal contractors and regulated organizations that must comply with frameworks such as CMMC, NIST 800-171, ITAR, and other federal cybersecurity requirements while maintaining strict control over data location and infrastructure.

Secure Federal File Sharing and Collaboration
FileCloud supports collaboration across agencies, contractors, and partners without relying on unsecured methods such as email attachments, FTP servers, or consumer-grade file sharing services. With centralized control and detailed auditing capabilities, agencies can ensure sensitive data remains protected throughout the collaboration process.
Key collaboration capabilities include:
- Secure internal and external file sharing (unlimited external accounts)
- Large file transfer support for engineering, research, and multimedia data
- Team folders for controlled collaboration across departments and partners
- Real-time file editing, commenting, locking, and unlimited versioning
- File synchronization across desktops and mobile devices
- Workflow automation to reduce manual input errors and streamline collaboration processes
- Integration with Microsoft 365 and enterprise identity systems

Zero Trust Security Architecture
FileCloud follows a Zero Trust approach to file sharing and collaboration, ensuring that access to sensitive information is continuously verified and tightly controlled. Every user, device, and access request can be evaluated according to security policies that enforce least-privilege access and protect federal data from unauthorized exposure.

Administrators can implement layered security controls including strong authentication, device restrictions, encryption, and real-time monitoring to ensure that sensitive files are accessed only by authorized users under approved conditions.
Security capabilities include:
- Multi-factor authentication and SSO integration
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Granular role-based access control
- Secure link sharing with expiration and download restrictions
- Detailed audit logging and monitoring
- Device management and remote access controls
Data Governance and Compliance Controls
Federal organizations must maintain strict control over sensitive information throughout its lifecycle. FileCloud provides comprehensive governance capabilities that allow administrators to classify, manage, and protect data according to regulatory and organizational policies.
Through centralized administrative controls, agencies can enforce retention policies, monitor file activity, and apply compliance frameworks that support regulatory mandates and internal governance programs.

Content Metadata and Classification
FileCloud enables organizations to apply metadata and classification policies to files, allowing administrators to organize content, identify sensitive information, and enforce governance policies across repositories. Classification data can be used to automate access controls and retention policies based on the sensitivity of the information.
Granular Permissions
FileCloud provides highly granular permission controls that allow administrators to manage access at the folder, subfolder, or file level. Permissions can be assigned based on user roles, groups, or organizational policies to ensure that sensitive information is accessible only to authorized individuals.
Retention Policies
Administrators can configure automated retention policies that govern how long files are stored and when they are archived or deleted. These policies help organizations maintain compliance with federal records management requirements while reducing the risk associated with unmanaged data.
Data Leak Prevention (DLP)
Metadata can also be used to create DLP rules that protect data from being shared with unauthorized users. Rules can be set to permit a share or download (while notifying admins) or to outright deny the download or share. When automated content classification is enabled, FileCloud’s Smart DLP feature can be triggered so that DLP rules are automatically implemented based on metadata detection.
FileCloud for Compliance
FileCloud supports organizations operating under a wide range of federal compliance frameworks by providing the security controls, governance capabilities, and auditing features necessary to support regulatory requirements. These capabilities help agencies and contractors manage sensitive information in accordance with standards such as NIST cybersecurity frameworks and federal data protection requirements.
FileCloud’s Compliance Center provides a centralized dashboard with configurations for NIST 800-171, HIPAA, ITAR, and GDPR. Each configuration connects unique regulatory requirements with FileCloud functionalities and features for a comprehensive and organized approach to setting up FileCloud as a compliant environment for sensitive data or CUI.
